        Wright named opening night starter

(MARYVILLE, MO)–Northwest Missouri State University head football coach Rich Wright named Braden Wright the starting quarterback for next Thursday’s home opener against Missouri Western.

Wright is a redshirt-freshman from Elkhorn, Nebraska. During his high school career, Wright attended Elkhorn South High School and led the Storm to a pair of state championships.

Wright was in competition with fellow Nebraskan Jadyn Kowalski for the starting job.

The Bearcats open their 2018 season next Thursday against in-state rival Missouri Western in a game that can be heard on KZLX at 7:00 p.m.

Northwest tabs new Cross Country/Track and Field Coach

(MARYVILLE, MO)–The Northwest Missouri State University Athletic Department announced on Wednesday the hiring of Brandon Masters as the head coach for the Cross Country/Track & Field Teams.

Masters has spent the head coach at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

Masters replaces former coach Scott Lorek who resigned last spring.

             Peterson named new director of athletics

(MARYVILLE,MO)–Northwest Missouri State University Interim Director of Athletics Andy Peterson has been promoted to the full time position.

Peterson has been a staple at the university for many years, he played basketball from 2003 to 2008 at Northwest and has assumed many roles since then including womens’ golf coach, assistant men’s basketball coach and assistant athletic director. Peterson was appointed the interim following the retirement of Mel Tjeerdsma in April.

Peterson will assume his new position immediately.
